The second in a compelling duo of Alvarinho wines from Vinho Verde, Solos de Granito is crafted from vines grown on granite bedrock. While Alvarinho’s signature peach notes are present, this expression leans more toward pronounced herbal nuances. On the palate, it’s exceptionally pure and linear, offering long, clean flavors with a lighter, more refined texture compared to its Solos de Xisto counterpart. Granite, being paler and more resistant to erosion than schist, absorbs less heat and restricts vine root depth, resulting in a leaner profile. However, thanks to Vinho Verde’s ample rainfall, these conditions rarely cause vine stress, allowing for graceful ripening and fresh, expressive wines.
